Thomasine Johnson Woman of the Year

HOUSTON (June 2, 2009) - Southwest Area Express Network (SWAPEN) Chapter President Thomasine Johnson will be one of the honorees recognized during the American Business Women's Association's (ABWA) most distinguished event of the year, the Woman of the Year Award Luncheon being held on Saturday, June 6, 2009, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Junior League of Houston, 1811 Briar Oaks Lane, Houston, Texas 77027.  The event is open to the public.
 
The ABWA Woman of the Year Award is one of the most illustrious honors bestowed upon the organization's members. Honorees have made significant accomplishments in education, leadership and in professional and civic activities.
 
"I am truly humbled to be among such a prestigious group of women receiving the award," said Johnson.  "All of the women being honored work very hard in their public and private lives to improve the lives of everyone in their circles of influence. I'm thrilled to be among the award recipients."
 
Johnson's community endeavors include:  sponsoring design workshops for the less fortunate to improve their quality of life; working to increase the awareness of African American works of art and landmarks by working with art museums and historic preservation groups; dedicating time to Habitat for Humanity and Project 1%; serving on the TMF board; and she chairs the Community Involvement Committee of TGCC-American Society of Interior Designers.
 
Thomasine is the CEO of En'terior Designs and Realty Enhancements International, Inc., a global real estate home staging certification firm. Additionally, she serves as director of community development for George E. Johnson Development.
