Practice Act Update           5/4/11

SCIDC, the South Carolina Interior Design Coalition, has been busy lobbying for passage of HB 4073.  They are planning a lobby day at the Capitol in Columbia on Wednesday, May 11th.

You should also be watching for the Cartel's typical under-the-radar tactic -- trying to attach their bill to another piece of legislation if they can't get any traction before the session ends.

As you may know, 2011 has been an epic year for interior design legislation;  I've had 29 bills cross my desk already this year, as well as working night and day to repeal Florida's practice act (which would help every other state fight practice acts in their own state) -- our resources are stretched beyond capacity and IDPC will not be able to dedicate attention to South Carolina without a major increase in the involvement and support of the SC design community.

They're baaaaack!     4/14/11

Like zombies, these bills just won't stay dead.

Yesterday, a practice act was introduced in the South Carolina House of Representatives and assigned to the Committee on Labor, Commerce and Industry.

If you are an IDPC member or sponsor, you will be kept up-to-date on all activities and/or movement of this bill, pertinent information including bill analysis, talking points, legislator contact information, sample letters, hearing dates, and all other updates crucial for defeating this bill.

Don't think others will act for you.  ASID-supported coalitions have a ton of money for lobbying and we need every voice to protect South Carolina designers' right to practice.  We make it as easy and painless as possible for you to make your voice count.

So what will it be?

Will you choose IDPC's freedom, or ASID's bondage?
